Those of you who were part of Hist Con during Hayden's tenure, please add anything you want here.
One of the things I noticed during this week's events is that Hayden's name came up over and over again, even for the earliest HistConners who were building the program before Hayden arrived.
I was actually the graduate student representative on the search committee that hired Hayden. He later served on my dissertation committee (though my degree came from the Literature Board of Studies). I have lots of memories of that era, including his hosting a visit to campus by Jacques Derrida -- we had a wonderful dinner with Derrida at Hayden's house. I still make my graduate students read METAHISTORY.
